Loose is a pretty Village situated approximately two miles South of Maidstone. Dating back to Saxon times, its main period of development came during the nineteenth century Industrial Revolution and centred on the Paper and Wool trades. Built in the deep sided Loose Valley which surrounds and closes in the the picturesque ragstone Village on all sides, it enjoys an interesting mix of both old and new properties. There are some wonderful walks in the area, particularly along the Loose Stream and Quarry Woods. The Village has its own Post Office and General Stores as well as some wonderful Country Inns, most notably The Chequers at the bottom of Old Loose Hill.  Further shopping facilities can be found in nearby Coxheath, Staplehurst and Headcorn.

Maidstone is a short drive away and caters for one’s day-to-day shopping requirements with its variety of Retail Outlets, Banks and Leisure facilities. For the commuter, trains run from Maidstone East into London Victoria and from Staplehurst into London Bridge, Waterloo East, Charing Cross and Cannon Street. The M20 is conveniently close and connects to the M25 and the rest of the motorway network.
